Commencement Staff

The Commencement Staff is an invaluable asset of commencement. It is composed of The Office of the Registrar, Records office employees and University staff and student volunteers.

Volunteering

Commencement Staff are involved in every aspect of the commencement process, from checking in students to handing out diplomas. Their participation is critical to the ceremony’s success. If you are interested in becoming a commencement staff volunteer, please contact us at records@lamar.edu and indicate the ceremony(s) you are available for.

Commencement Staff Duties

• Direct graduates to check-in area
• Check-in graduates
• Assist graduates in finding their seat according to the walking number on their card
• Assist graduates with their regalia and hood placement
• Provide graduates with important information related to the ceremony
• Hand out diplomas
• Answer questions or direct graduates to a leader to help them
